Capitol Area Workforce Development Board Collaborates on Successful Youth Program

Youth Going Green Project

YouthGoingGreen The Youth Going Green Project is a collaboration between Capital Area Workforce Development Board, NC State University, Raleigh Business and Technology Center, Wake Technical Community College, Johnston Community College and Johnston Community Industries.

Youth Going Green is an innovative and creative training to employment program that gives youth aged 17-21 an opportunity to explore green technology while receiving their basic education needs.

In Wake County, CAWDB offers an accelerated GED class through Wake Technical Community College and a high quality Green Technology Weatherization class through NC State. In Johnston County, CAWDB offers the same GED class and Green Technology Weatherization class at Johnston Community College; administered at the Johnston Community Industries Facility.

CAWDBawardWith additional supportive services, like assisting with day care expenses and providing assistance with transportation, CAWDB tries to take away the barriers preventing youth from achieving their goals.

With growing partnerships in Wake and Johnston County,  CAWDB’s ‘Youth Going Green Project’gives youth the opportunity to receive the basic education skills required in today’s society and the Green Technology skills to prepare them for tomorrow’s workforce.
