Congressman Price Visits the JobLink at Northgate
Congressman Price’s staff contacted JobLink at Northgate to schedule a tour as a result of his not being able to attend the grand opening which was held on July 20, 2011. Nine days later, Congressman Price was welcomed at Northgate by Kevin Dick, Executive Director of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development; Denise Motley Johnston, Chair, Durham Workforce Development Board; Keith Chadwell, City of Durham Assistant City Manager; Nicholas McCoy, Senior Workforce Development Manager; Ginny Bowman and Jim Bock of Northgate Associates; and, Tanya Spaulding-Hill, JobLink Manager.
The group met briefly and discussed the objective of the Northgate location and the pilot program that supported its creation. Congressman Price then toured the office and made comment in regards to its contemporary atmosphere–which did not reflect the stereotyped government setting.
The City of Durham, the Durham Workforce Development Board, Northgate Associates, and the Durham JobLink were honored that Congressman Price had an interest in their mission and took time to explore one of the successes of that mission.
