2012 Outstanding Workforce Development Youth

Brandon-AsayFor the second year in a row, one of Capital Area’s Youth Program participants has won a Governor’s Award for Excellence in Workforce Development. Brandon Asay enrolled in one of CAWDB’s youth programs, Johnston County Industries (JCI) “Yes I Can,” with the expressed goal of obtaining his GED. While enrolled in GED classes, Brandon also participated in a work experience program with Caterpillar. His work ethic and commitment to his responsibilities soon got him promoted. While working full-time and raising a child with serious medical conditions, he also managed to obtain his GED. During his time enrolled, Brandon never allowed his past to determine his future despite his many challenges in life. It is for these reasons he was recognized as an “Outstanding Workforce Development Youth.”
